Tulsa Roofing FAQs

How Do I Know If I Need a New Roof?

Sometimes it’s easy to tell if your roof needs replacing; signs such as holes in the surface, missing shingles, leaks and animals in your attic may be obvious. In many cases, the signs are more subtle. If your roof has aged 12-15 years or more, it is recommended to take proactive measures in order to prevent further issues caused by deterioration.

Other telltale signs that it may be time for a new roof include curling shingles, damaged or missing flashing, ice dams, and stained walls and ceilings.  If you are experiencing any of these issues, our team of Tulsa roofers can help.

How Often Does a Roof Need To Be Replaced?

Similar to other construction products, roofing materials age at different rates depending on factors like the quality of the original material, installation crew expertise, maintenance level and structural design suitability. On average, wood roofs last 18-25 years, composition roofs last 15-30 years, while flat roofs have a lifespan of 10-25 years. Most experts consider a 20-year service life acceptable; however it should be noted that manufacturer warranties do not always accurately reflect actual life expectancies for materials.

How Much Does a Tulsa Roof Replacement Cost?

Each roof is different, so the cost to install a new one varies. When setting prices for roofing contractors, they take into account factors like size, old roof removal, style and shape as well as materials used. They must also work around any features like chimneys, skylights or vents that must be accommodated during the process.

How Long Does It Take To Install a New Roof?

Residential re-roofing projects usually take only a few days to complete, while commercial jobs may require multiple days or weeks depending on the size and complexity of the building.

What Should I Do To Prepare for a New Roof Installation?

When installing a new roof, it’s essential to remember that it can be an unpleasant, noisy process for both inside and outside your home. Every house is unique, so the options for removing and installing roofing materials may differ. In order to prepare for the worst-case scenario, it’s recommended that you remove any valuable items which may fall victim to vibrations caused by the process. While you don’t need to take everything down, do make sure everything you value is secure beforehand.

Noise can be an issue during roof installation, particularly if you work from home, have a sleeping baby or pet that’s anxious. It is best to plan ahead and make alternative arrangements if needed. Furthermore, the removal and installation of the new roof will create dust and debris – so if any items are stored in your attic or garage, discuss with your roofing contractor how this project will impact those areas. It is also essential to discuss how your yard will be protected and cleaned up once installation is complete.

What Options Do I Have for Roofing Materials?

Once you’ve decided that your roof needs replacing, there is a wide range of materials to select from. While there isn’t one perfect material, many options vary in cost, longevity and aesthetic appeal. To get inspired by what other homeowners in your neighborhood are using for replacement projects, pay attention to which types and styles of roofing they have installed there. Whenever possible, select materials which fit well within the surrounding environment; additionally if part of an HOA be sure to review its regulations to see which suppliers and types are allowed within its boundaries.

Additionally, visiting your local roofing supplier’s yard can be a useful resource. Many offer showrooms and samples that you can take home to get an idea of what your new roof might look like in action. This makes it an ideal tool to help select the most suitable material for you.

Am I Able to Install My Own Roof?

It is possible to install your own roof if you possess the time and skills. However, keep in mind that not all the intricate details and potential hazards involved with installing a new roof can be learned through online resources or books. In case of leaks or other issues, be prepared to climb back up on top and make necessary repairs.

Roofing is widely considered one of America’s most hazardous jobs. That is why hiring a professional roofing company is usually recommended; doing so offers several advantages such as longer and stronger warranties from manufacturers and access to experienced professionals with decades of expertise.

After past failures in patching up our roof over the years, we decided it was time to replace the whole roof. We had several estimates from other contractors, but when we contacted Dalton with Burggraf, he not only came out and inspected our roof, he was the first contractor to fully explain in detail what his bid included and the process for reroofing our house. His crew worked hard, were very professional, and you could tell they took great pride in their work. They had most of the roofing complete by the end of the first day, including a thorough clean up around the house and yard. The next day, the crew came back to take care of all the finer details including touch up paint where needed. Dalton kept in touch with us to see if we had any questions as well as updates on the progress of the roof. Our new roof looks fantastic and the work well done.

My 75 year old mother hired Burggraf Roofing who came out to fix her chimney enclosure, high level of craftmanship (as long as it doesn't leak 🙂 ), they manned the job properly. They where very good about working through any misunderstandings and completed the work promptly. Highly Recommended - Showed Craftmanship.

Dominick & Payton, Company Representatives, came out and Inspected our Roof for us (07-14-2021). We recently had a water leak. They were very professional, courteous, and seemed very personable. They gave us a fair and accurate repair estimate. They have earned our Business. Burggraf employees will be coming back out in a week to do the repairs so i will update this review after the work is completed. It is a HUGE relief to know there are still Companies out there that are honest & fair. We are looking forward to a solid working relationship with Burggraf for our future Roofing needs. If subsequent workers are as professional as Dominick, and Payton, we should be in good hands…. Addendum - Dominick, & Dalton, came back to fix the Roof leak on 07-21-2021. They worked very hard, in high 90’s heat, and repaired the Leak in a little over an hour. Dominick showed me video of the Repairs. The Repair cost was more than fair and comes with a year warranty. Fantastic job, Burggraf. Thank you for making a stressful situation trouble free. You have earned our trust and our future Business…
